Together we have weathered many storms that have profoundly altered both our personal and professional worlds. The global pandemic has transformed our teaching, research, and service pursuits in higher education and wrought lasting effects in our everyday lives, while division, disinformation, and discrimination threaten to erode our fundamental rights and democratic systems. How can NCA act with conscience to best serve our members while also engaging with the multiple communities in which we live and work? At this moment, at the crossroads where NCA exists, to which roles and functions will we grant presence? We must decide what is most important to us, envision new structures to further our mission, and work together to fashion an association that is responsive, abiding, and vital. In this address the prospects and promises for crafting the future of our association are explored. Because the storms that we endure are disruptive but also are regenerative, NCA can emerge from our challenges both renewed and transformed.
