Asynchronous Event
Room: Asynchronous Session
This session features continued inquiries into "Gender and Media Ecology". Influenced by frameworks, models, and probes relevant to media ecology, the four presentations of this session cover topics such as: the appeal to a physically owned proof of love in the Digital age, menstrual products as engendered environments, remediated voyeuristic nostalgia, and gender-specific performances on social media platforms. In essence, this panel returns to and expands upon key ideas and insights regarding the study of media as environments and environments as media; paying homage to past, present, and freshly emerging questions of physicality, embodiment, remediation, and gendered performances. The inclusive breadth of these works continues a momentum of the recent celebration of media ecological works written by women.
