Abstract

This workshop will introduce effective early writing assessments and interventions for struggling writers in the early grades. You will learn three types of Curriculum-based Measures (CBM-W) and how to use these assessments for data-based decision making. CBM-Writing administration and scoring will be covered, as well as how to establish long-term writing goals. You will learn to implement evidence-based early writing interventions and create comprehensive writing instructional plans tailored to meet your students' individual needs.

Learner Outcomes

- Administer and score three early writing CBM-W measures
- Develop long-term writing goals for student progress monitoring and data-based decision making.
- Implement research-based early writing interventions that align with the Simple View of writing.
- Create comprehensive writing instructional plans that can be customized to meet students' individual needs.
