Abstract

Critical thinking is paramount in promoting scientific literacy. Using socioscientific issues as a pedagogical strategy does empower students to build knowledge and skills to think about scientific issues as professional scientists and well-informed citizens. Results from our investigation show improvement in students' thinking regarding environmental and health effects of fracking.
